when compared to other building methods. The
thermal mass qualities of the concrete in the
ICF walls combined with the airtight nature of
the entire wall system with expanded polystyrene
on both exterior and interior faces of the wall
complete this highly efficient system. Even more
significant savings can be achieved when the
other building elements (floor insulation, roof
insulation, windows, doors, HVAC system), are
also chosen
for their contribution to overall energy
efficiency. Phoenix has an industry-leading
energy savings warranty of 72%. click

Independent
testing of identical buildings
- one having ICF walls, the other having
typical wood frame with insulation - has shown
that the lower energy consumption of the ICF
building was equivalent to that of a wood frame
building with walls insulated to between R-38
and R-45 (depending on geographic location in
the U.S.). Insulating a frame wall to those
levels is neither practical nor cost-effective
and it’s fair to assume that the Phoenix ICF
system has a performance R-value at least that
of the test building.
